About HP Operating System Check

HP Operating System Check is an optimization tool in the HP Support Framework family of support tools. This tool analyzes and optimizes your operating system to run at peak performance. It performs various diagnostic scans, automatically fixing issues and displaying detailed results for completed operations. In addition, HP Operating System Check provides helpful links and information for you to learn about your operating system and how to keep your system tuned-up.

• BITS Diagnostic: This diagnostic finds and fixes problems with the Background Intelligent Transfer Service, which Windows Update and many other services use for background downloads that could be having problems.
• Device Diagnostic: This diagnostic checks your operating system for issues with hardware devices. If a hardware device, especially a recently installed one, isn’t working properly, this diagnostic will find and fix problems with hardware detection and drivers.
• Maintenance Diagnostic: This diagnostic finds and cleans up unused files and shortcuts. It also fixes broken shortcuts and performs system maintenance tasks, including checking if your clock is set to the correct time.
• Device Center Diagnostic: This diagnostic can find and fix problems with devices such as Plug-and-Play (PnP), USB keys, and printers.
• Windows Update Diagnostic: If you receive an error message while installing the latest Windows Update, the Windows Update Troubleshooter can resolve many of these issues.
